"FAT BABY Reviews

As I write this E-mail I’m sitting here in my little Cartesian theater listening to Fat Baby for the second time, where the sound is the closest thing to live I’ve ever experienced, other than at my brother’s house, which has essentially the same sound system. Or as Chi puts it, “This sounds better than Hoson House! I can hear every instrument!”

The thing I like most is the fact that strings are included, both violin and cello. It adds so much fantastic sound that one rarely hears.

Every tune is a hit! However, then there is NTV. Part way through the tune I thought I’d just gone through a time warp to a much more pleasant time. Many of the passages reminded me so much of late 1970’s Weather Report, particularly the bass, keyboards, and drums, making it an extremely enhanced experience for me, but you weren’t imitating Weather Report. You were Thelonious Monkey!!!! I have always put Weather Report kind of in a class by themselves, but that’s the highest compliment I can give any band.

"What can I say to the masses about Thelonious Monkey?  What a crazy ass show at the Baked Potato, Lankershim.  Chris "Drummer of the Century" Wabich, the beautiful Jenny Ing on keys, vocals, and sax (modern day Karen Carpenter, Minnie Ripperton) playing the 2016-not 2015 versions of future jazz.  Alternative rock jazz and blues; my potato had to wait. Paid $15.00 for the thing, to sit while I was amazed of the sound I was hearing.  Jenny, Chris and the band were so terrific and off the Canada tour, when I last heard them.  The[lonious] Monkey music is so obscure, clear founded.  Yoko and Lennon I know for a fact would be sitting in my chair, at [the] edge of their seat.  Terrific is an understatement, catch their next gig; find them on: creativedefensemusic.com."
